HALF ROUND SLICER - A.C.F. TR/S 4000
In cases in which it is principally required to produce veneer sheets from quarters or thirds of logs, as it is normally being done on conventional slicers, the rotary slicer will be of a special design and called in this case mod. TR/S.
This model differs from the normal execution for the possibility to make rotate on an axis, eccentrical as regards to the one of rotation, the log holder beam with angle at choice.
Said rotation allows to choose the cutting direction most suitable to the working conditions in order to obtain the best aesthetical and quality results.
In the case of oak this possibility is being particularly appreciated since it allows to attack the pith rays with the biggest possible incidence angle and therefore in the best conditions to reduce the negative effect commonly called “maillé”.
The specialists of this sector will realize that it is not a mere derivation, more or less improved, of the conventional Peeler equipped with the known Stay-log device, but rather of a new machine, appositely conceived for a revolutionary technology the sure advantages of which are briefly described in this leaflet.
It is known that the sliced veneer industry occupies a unique place in the wood field using almost exclusively timber of the best quality and therefore of great value; no other sector is engaged in the same way to emphasize the decorative and aesthetical aspect of the same.
It is known that the commercial value of the sliced veneer depends, besides on the type of species, on the size of the sheets and above all on the movement of the grain giving origin to particular “figures” the so called “fiammato” (flamy) or “rigato” (rift).
Nowadays, and perhaps always more often in the future, the most asked for figures are those so called “mosso”, with oval concentric grain or give arch, known as “cathedrals”.
These figures are obtained slicing crosswise full logs.
To obtain from a full log sliced sheets, all of them having the desired aesthetical effect, it is imperative to be able to choose the initial cutting direction, more or less curved, and during the entire slicing process be able to vary it progressively adjusting it to the movement of the grown rings.
The ROTARY SLICER TR has been designed to satisfy these requirements bringing along the important advantage to obtain larger sheets with the maximum exploitation of the raw material.
